2015 Nissan Altima vs. 2015 Ford Fusion

One of the most popular midsize sedan category is the Nissan Altima. However, another very popular vehicle in this segment is the Ford Fusion. So our staff here at Matt Castrucci Nissan thought that it would be fun to compare the these two cars by doing a 2015 Nissan Altima vs. 2015 Ford Fusion comparison review.

2015-Nissan-Altima-vs.-2015-Ford-Fusion

The 2015 Nissan Altima comes with a standard 2.5 liter, I-4 engine that produces 182 horsepower. This engine gets better gas mileage than ever in the Altima. It gets an EPA estimated 27 miles per gallon city and 38 miles per gallon highway. It is paired up with the Nissan’s signature CVT transmission. On the other hand, the base-level engine for the Ford Fusion is a 2.5 liter, four-cylinder engine that puts out 178 horsepower. This engine gets an EPA estimated 22 miles per gallon in the city and an estimated 34 miles per gallon on the highway. It is also paired up with a six-speed automatic transmission. In the engine performance and efficiency category you can clearly see that when you compare the standard engines, which is what most of the vehicles have, then the Nissan Altima is the clear winner. However, if we were also to consider upgraded engine offering that are available for a higher price tag, the Fusion would have some better engine offerings, like the the EcoBoost engine for example.

On the exterior of the Nissan Altima, there are big changes for the 2015 model year. They gave it a new and attractive styling and added some stylish curves and angles into the design that rival the appearance of many of their higher end Infiniti vehicles. The new 2015 Ford Fusion is also very attractive and bold looking. We truly believe that the Fusion and Altima are about equal when it comes to the comparison of exterior appearance and styling. They are both standout cars that really catch your eye in this competitive segment of midsize cars.

The interior cabin is another place where the Altima really shines. They’ve made this new 2015 Altima the most comfortable and smooth model year yet. The seats in the Altima are actually influenced by NASA aerospace technology and are being referred to as “Zero gravity seats”. These seats are very comfortable and were designed to reduce driver fatigue. There are also many noise dampening features that help to make this the quietest cabin even made in a Nissan Altima. Both the Fusion and Altima have roomy and advanced interior feel for the 2015 model year. However, we feel that the Altima is a step above the Ford Fusion in this category as well.
