The Rise of Gas Prices

history of gas prices

Why is gas so expensive?

History of gas prices

Life was simple in 1919. Long commutes to work were not common, two-car garages were unheard of, and rush hours didn’t exist. Not only that, but owning a car was about as strange as owning a jet pack today. People didn’t worry about gas prices in 1919 like we stress about it today, but if they did they could breath easily because gas was only 25 cents per gallon. The history of gas prices is long and confusing, but today we are paying almost three dollars more a gallon than we were even 12 years ago.

Today the average gas price in Dayton Ohio is $3.65. In the 1960s the gas price from 1919 had only risen about 5 cents. Today gas prices can raise more than five cents over one night. So what is the reason for this rise in gas price? We have answers for you and solutions to the best way to save at Matt Castrucci Nissan.

In the early 1900s the demand for a car was little to none. As technology started growing at a faster rate and families began to have more places to go the demand grew for not only one car per family but two. Today it is common for a family to have two cars and then three when the kids are old enough to drive. This is quite a jump from the early 1900s when owning even one car was a luxury.

Car Suggestions by a Kid

what kids want in a car

You and your kids will love the Quest

What kids want in a car

Hi Mom, I hate to say it, but I think it’s time for a new car. It’s not you, it’s the car, I promise. It’s way too small for all my stuff for my soccer games, dance practices, and piano lessons. Let’s not even mention when you have me, the dog and groceries, or when it’s your turn to carpool. I love you Mom, but I really think it’s time for you to rethink your car situation. Here’s a list I put together. This is what kids want in a car.

Maybe you should check out the 2014 Nissan Quest. This minivan is big enough to fit all my stuff and your shopping bags even if you are carpooling! You can hold five passengers in the backseat and still have storage room in the trunk. The trunk is big and has storage underneath the floor so you can hide the soccer ball you always yell at me for throwing around when you are driving. The Quest is big enough for all of our activities and is ranked in the top safest cars so you don’t have to worry as much about other crazy drivers on the road.

Fun Ideas for the Family

Take a road trip to the sea.

Things to do on a road trip with kids

A family road trip is a great summer activity. We think road trips are a fun way to see many sights throughout the United States, less expensive than flying, and a wonderful family bonding opportunity. Before you go on your road trip, make sure your car is up to date at our service department.

things to do on a road trip with kids

Stop at Mt. Rushmore.

You may be hesitant to take a road trip because of the time commitment and possibility of the kids becoming bored and antsy. You won’t have to worry about this behavior if you know a few simple games that will keep the kids occupied and stimulated. While electronics may keep the kids quiet for a while, we believe that games that make kids look out the windows are more fun and educate the whole family on each area you drive through.

Some things to do on a road trip with kids are games such as the alphabet game. The goal of this game is to find words that start with each letter of the alphabet in order. Whoever gets to Z first is the winner. This is a great game to play individually or in teams.
