Riverscape Metropark located in downtown Dayton
Here at Matt Castrucci Nissan we try to provide you with information on many of the fun and different things to do around the Dayton area. The Riverscape Metropark located in downtown Dayton is truly one of the cities great hidden treasures. The Riverscape Metropark was a $30 million dollar project that was completed in 2001. When the park officially opened in 2001 there were 50,000 people there for the grand opening.

The Riverscape is a park that stretches along the Miami River right in the middle of downtown Dayton. There are activities here to suit people of all ages and all interests. There are concerts and music programs such as music at lunch where people can enjoy live music on their lunch break. There are fitness programs such as Yoga and dance classes that take place in the park. There are fun community fundraisers that take place such as the Annual Rubber Duck Regatta which is a program that helps to support local children and adults with disabilities where about 20,000 rubber ducks are floated down the river. The Rubber Duck Regatta takes place at the same time as another event as well, the Taste of Miami Valley. This is an event where about 20 local Miami Valley restaurants come together in the Riverscape Metropark so residents can sample signature dishes. There is also a fundraiser called the Stilettos to Sneakers 5K. This recreational run/walk benefits women who are victims of the sex industry.
One very unique aspect to the Riverscape is the Inventors River Walk. It begins with an 8 x 8 brick medallion that proclaims Dayton as the invention capital of the world. This is because for much of the city’s history they had more inventions per capita than anywhere else in the United States. This claim that they are the invention capital of the world goes back all the way to the early 1800’s. The Inventors Riverwalk has seven inventors stations and each of them celebrate a different Dayton inventor. Stories include things like: the origin of the cell phone, digital watches and the story of Joe Desch, the man who broke the German Enigma Code in WW2.
Other fun activities in the Riverscape Metropark are: Bicycling, inline skating, playgrounds, ice skating, and more. We hope you’ve enjoyed learning about the Riverscape Metropark.
