As always, summers brings out the best weather which undoubtedly brings out the biggest events of the year. Sun has always equaled fun, And in Dayton, that has never been more true than over the next few months, when the Ohio valley will explode with daily and nightly events that range from parades and concerts, to firework shows and even fishing derbies. The winter has never been more jealous of 2014 Summer Events in Dayton OH.

Memorial Day kicks off this busy summer and there are plenty of things to do. The Patriot Freedom Festival running on both Saturday, May 24th and Sunday, May 25th. Opening at 11:00 AM each day and closing at 6:00 PM each night, it’s a celebrating those who have served, those who are serving, and those that will. Starting with the Freedom/Walk and/or Roll 5K which starts on Saturday at 8:30 athe Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. More information can be found on their website. The rest of the festival with feature live music, reenactors and living history events, military displays, guided historical tours, and even a petting zoo for the kids. Good fun had by all celebrating an important day for the whole country. And if you’d rather just walk and learn, feel free to stop at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.

June 14th is another busy day with both the Annual Fishing Derby in Delco Park as well as the Rock ‘N’ Green Tomato Festival. The Fishing Derby is a free event starting at 10:00am and going till noon. The Green Tomato Festival opens at noon and closes out the night at 11 PM at the Riverfront Park in Miamisburg. Eating contests, live music, and even a cornhole tournament will litter the day with fun for the whole family.

And these are just a smattering of 2014 Summer Events in Dayton OH. Events will be going on weekly through the area and will be vast and varied with something for everybody of every age. Ohio’s summer will be hard to out do.
