Time and time again the Nissan Leaf has proved that it’s much more than a small plug-in. It’s powerful, efficient and delivers a dynamic driving experience that drivers love so much that it’s now the best-selling plug-in vehicle in the United States. That’s a quite a title and the Nissan Leaf beats out the likes of competitors like the Chevy Volt. In the month of March 2015 the Nissan Leaf sold 1,817 and the Chevy Volt only 639 vehicles. For some time the Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt were head to head for the title of best seller with the Volt ahead of the Leaf by only two vehicles at the end of February. So what makes the Nissan Leaf popular enough? What’s the “secret sauce?” It addition to a variety of factors, it comes down to the 2015 Nissan Leaf’s range and price. The 2015 Nissan Leaf starts as low as $29,010 MSRP and can travel 84 miles on a full battery charge. This mileage puts the 2015 Nissan Leaf as a leader in the electric plug-in class. The Nissan Leaf is 100 percent electric compared to the Chevy Volt that is a hybrid plug-in that combines electric and gasoline power. While the Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt are similar, both couldn’t be more different.

Maybe one of the Nissan Leaf’s greatest strengths is you don’t need to be a scientist to feel comfortable operating one. It’s so straightforward and easy. Simply hook the Leaf up to a 240-volt station and the vehicle is fully charged in around four hours. And just because it’s 100 percent electric doesn’t mean the Leaf skimps on any of the creature comforts. In fact, the 2015 Nissan Leaf is spacious with 30 full cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded.

The 2015 Nissan Leaf comes standard with heated front and rear seats, cloth upholstery, 4.3-inch color touchscreen, a rearview camera, four-speaker CD player with iPod/USB input and satellite radio, keyless ignition and entry and much more. A 3.6 kW onboard charger is standard, but for car shoppers looking for a plug-in that charges more quickly upgrading to the SV trim might be a better option. Equipped with a 6.6. kW charger, the SV comes packed with a 7-inch touchscreen, Nissan Carwings to navigate and remotely monitor charging and climate control, partially recycled upholstery, six-speaker sound system, Pandora integration and much more.
